Frequently Asked Questions

From numerous consultations with customers in a wide range of industries, we know that in many cases the same interests are involved and the same questions often arise. We would like to answer the most essential ones here in advance. Everything else, of course, in a personal conversation.

Can you adapt your heat treatment equipment to local conditions or do you only supply standard products?

At SCHWING, each system is individually tailored to the needs of the customer and the process required. The design and dimensioning of our customized heat treatment plants thus takes into account not only the ultimate installation site of a plant and the access situation, but also the application and all necessary supply/supply and data interfaces. Our consulting services accompanying the process ensure a custom-fit solution for our customer’s needs and maximum economic success.

Do you offer your service even after the end of the warranty period?

Our customers receive our globally proven services, even after the contractually agreed warranty period has expired. As a reliable supplier and often long-term partner of our customers, it was and is important for us that SCHWING customers achieve their economic success with our products and system solutions and are satisfied in the long term. For this purpose, SCHWING offers various options, for example the conclusion of a maintenance contract or an extension of the warranty period at the time of purchase.

Do you supply your heat treatment plant as a self-contained unit, or do you also integrate it into an existing infrastructure on a turnkey basis?

In order to be able to reliably realize the desired functionalities and process goals, SCHWING always takes a holistic view of your investment project including the resulting interfaces. For example, we initially offer our core service, i.e. the pure heat treatment unit without the infrastructure required for operation or integration, as these services can usually be performed more affordably by the customer on site.

Of course, we are happy to optionally expand our range of services and perform additional services for a turnkey delivery. These are, for example, the installation of the utility connection and the supply or exhaust air connection, or even the creation and connection of a chimney stack.

In connection with the delivery of your plant, do you also carry out operating permit procedures such as the BImSchG?

Any operating permit procedures that may be required for a plant prior to its commissioning are just as much part of the operator’s duties as the performance of hazard analyses and can therefore unfortunately not be assumed by SCHWING.

Our plant technology and its documentation are state of the art and take into account all requirements as a basis for successful approval. We are happy to support our customers with questions, standard applications and interpretations or existing information needs in connection with the implementation of the approval process or your duties.

As a general contractor, do you also supply the peripheral plant technology and a joint CE declaration of conformity with your heat treatment plant?

SCHWING has the know-how and the engineering to also supply the environment of the heat treatment plant – e.g. the higher-level automation of the loading and unloading or the linking of the upstream and downstream plant technology – and to declare complete CE conformity for this as well. The prerequisite for this is that the equipment and systems be supplemented are directly connected to our heat treatment plant and form a self-contained plant section.

Do you also consider national standards when delivering your products to countries outside the European Union?

As a globally positioned and operating company, SCHWING offers customized equipment and thermoprocessing solutions for customers in all parts of the world.

First, we offer a very high and all-encompassing safety standard based on the Machinery Directive and the applicable standards in the EU. In addition, required national and industry-specific specifications, norms and standards – as long as they do not contradict European standardization – are taken into account and applied (NFPA 86, AMS 2750, NADCAP, CQI-9, etc.).
